The 24th episode of Sword Art Online II titled “Mother’s Rosario” was voted as the most popular episode of the franchise so far in Japan. You can check out the announcement below:
The voting was held within a contest titled “SAO Selection” as part of the anime’s 10th anniversary. The contest aimed to determine what were the top 20 episodes of Sword Art Online. Places 11 to 20 were announced first on July 1, while the top 10 episodes were announced one by one each week from July 9 to September 10. You can also check out the full list below:

A PKG remastered version of the episode “Mother’s Rosario” was broadcast in Japan before the announcement on September 10, 2022. The first season of A-1 Pictures animated Sword Art Online anime premiered on July 8, 2012. In 2013, an anime film titled Sword Art Online: Extra Edition aired. Season 2 aired in 2014, and it was followed by a movie titled Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale in 2017. The 3rd season titled Sword Art Online: Alicization aired in 2018. It was followed by a sequel titled Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld from 2019 until 2020.
On October 30, 2021, a spin-off movie, Sword Art Online: Progressive – Aria of a Starless Night premiered in the Japanese theatres. A sequel movie titled Sword Art Online: Progressive – Scherzo of Deep Night will be released on October 22, 2022, in Japan. Ayako Kono is directing the Progressive movies. Studio A-1 Pictures animated all of it. The anime marked its 10th anniversary on July 8, 2022. An event titled “Full Dive” will be held on November 6 of the same year, which is also the day the game Sword Art Online was launched in the anime’s story.

ASCII Media Works has been serializing Reki Kawahara’s Sword Art Online light novel series with abec’s illustrations since 2009, and it currently has 26 volumes, with more than 30 million copies in circulation. A spin-off light novel series titled Sword Art Online: Progressive is also being published by the same publisher since 2012, and it currently has 8 volumes. The light novel series narrates the early days of Kirito and Asuna in Aincrad. Yen Press is publishing the original Sword Art Online light novel series in English and describes the plot as:
