Mushoku Tensei Episode 1 Delivers Beautiful Animation

“Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation” aired its episode 1, and it showcased amazing animation and great direction. As expected from the trailers, Studio Bind is making a strong debut with their first anime as lead studio! I previously wrote why I thought Mushoku Tensei might be one of the best anime shows of 2021. The first episode just makes me feel even stronger about it, and I can’t wait to see what will happen where there are some serious action scenes! For now, we know the main character has some very perverted thoughts:

Well, he’s a 34 year-old after all, thoughts are fine as long as his actions are decent, right? I really enjoyed the artstyle and animation is obviously incredible with a lot of attention to details and impressive moments. For example, the scene where Rudy summoned the giant water ball thing:

Immediately after that, we realized his weird facial expressions may run in the family. His mom was so happy her boy could use magic, that she gave us an expression similar to the one from the MC above.

The story seems to be setting up, and our main character is figuring stuff out via books and thinking rather than a game menu or someone teaching him. The artstyle somehow just feels pleasant to watch, and the arrival of best girl Roxy enhanced it even more:

In another awesome looking moment which again involved a waterball, we got to see Roxy use magic as well. The whole sequence from the build-up through firing it to healing the tree was great! The backgrounds look amazing as well!

Mushoku Tensei had a very satisfying start with episode 1, and you can already watch it on Funimation!

If you also enjoyed it, make sure to vote for it as the best anime of Winter 2021 Week 2 here!
