So why did fans believe generative AI was being used in Sekiro anime?
The studio in charge of the production, Qzil.la, emphasizes using AI to maximize efficiency and productivity across all stages of animation production. Their website states that they want to evolve production workflows and creative expression using AI and advanced technologies.
For the SEKIRO: NO DEFEAT anime specifically, Qzil.la explicitly claimed the series is being done as hand-drawn 2D animation, but its history still caused skepticism. The major “proof” of being AI was a frame from the trailer, which is itself far from enough to really prove anything.
