You can read the comments from the author, manga artist, and the anime staff below:

Shiki (Original Author):
The anime adaptation of Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess is finally happening! Thank you so much!!
When I first started writing this story, I never imagined it would reach this point. Thanks to the support and encouragement of so many people, a long-held dream is coming true.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing (and hearing!) Bertia’s lively outbursts and Cecil’s inner commentary brought to life. I hope viewers will enjoy their interactions and find moments of laughter along the way.

Natsume Hasumi (Manga Adaptation):
Congratulations on the anime adaptation!
I’m so excited to see the characters in motion!
I’m also working on the sequel’s manga adaptation, so please check that out as well if you’re interested!

Junichi Yamamoto (Director):
This work features such charming characters and a truly enjoyable story. It’s been a pleasure directing it.
Bertia boldly and beautifully marches down the path of villainy—please enjoy this observation log!
The entire staff is working hard to faithfully convey the appeal of both the original novel and the manga.

Miki Matsumoto (Character Design):
There are so many appealing characters, each with a wonderful story to tell. It’s a heartwarming series that’s sure to make viewers smile.
Designing the expressive cast was a joy, especially Be

rtia, whose constantly changing expressions are a must-see!

Akiko Inoue (Series Composition & Script):
I fell under the spell of the elegant yet scheming Prince Cecil and the silly but sincere Bertia!
This humorous and occasionally touching tale will now be told through animation.
If such an otome game existed, I’d definitely want to play it!

Observation Records of My Fiancée: The Misadventures of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess is a Japanese light novel series written by Shiki and illustrated by Wan Hachipisu. Originally serialized online on Shosetsuka ni Naro, it was removed in March 2017 and later published by AlphaPolis in two volumes between May and September 2017. A manga adaptation by Natsume Hasumi ran from 2018 to 2021, compiled into six volumes. A sequel series launched in April 2022 with a manga adaptation following shortly after.

The light novel is also available on Hanashi Media, which describes the story:

Exceptionally gifted to his own detriment, Prince Cecil had always found life effortlessly mundane. One ordinary day, his life took an unexpected turn when he became engaged to Miss Bertia, the Chancellor’s daughter. This engagement, however, was anything but typical.

“Prince Cecil! I must confess – I am the villain of this story!” Bertia’s declaration was startling. She claimed to have memories of her former life, where she had been the antagonist in a “Otome game”. Her lofty ambition was to excel as a villainess and thus have her engagement annulled. However, despite her plans for various misdeeds, her attempts have always been unsuccessful.

Is her fiancé, who aspires to master villainous finesse, simply misguided in his endeavours?
