The upcoming anime Oshi no Ko revealed a new teaser visual and Ai Hoshino’s voice actress: Rie Takahashi. The first episode of the anime will also be broadcast in an extended 90-minute time slot. The anime is set to premiere in 2023 with studio Doga Kobo animating the series.
Oshi no Ko is a manga series written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokari (Scum’s Wish). Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump has been serializing the series since April 23, 2020. Currently, the manga has 8 volumes with the 9th volume coming this October 19. The manga has sold over a million copies as of April 2021 and was also part of the top 10 manga fans want to see animated in this year’s AnimeJapan.
Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project) is the director with Saori Tachibana (Wasteful Days of High School Girls) as assistant director. Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club) is supervising the scripts and Kanna Hirayama (Rent-a-Girlfriend) is doing the character designs. Oshi no Ko previously announced its first visual in June.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English and describes the first volume as:
Gorou is a gynecologist and idol fan who’s in shock after his favorite star, Ai, announces an impromptu hiatus. Little does Gorou realize that he’s about to forge a bond with her that defies all common sense! Lies are an idol’s greatest weapon in this outrageous manga from Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and Mengo Yokoyari (Scum’s Wish).
