Rascal the Racoon is getting a new spin-off anime 48 years since the original, with Racoon’s original voice actress Masako Nozawa (Goku in Dragon Ball) narrating the teaser trailer. Nippon Animation will again be animating, with the sequel titled Araiguma Calcal-dan (Rascal Calcal-dan). You can watch the trailer below.
The staff for the Araiguma Calcal-dan new anime includes Henry Hirakawa as the director, Ayano Yoshioka as the character designer, Kisuke Koizumi as the sound director, and Arisa Okehazama as the music composer. Credited as chief producers are Kozo Misawa (Yomiuri TV) and Hitomi Hiratsuka (Nippon Animation), with Hiroya Tanaka (Yomiuri TV) and Kasumi Dekune (Nippon Animation) credited as producers.

The original anime aired for 52 episodes from from January 1977 to December 1977. The story follows a young boy who decides to take in a racoon and try to tame him. The popularity of the anime led to a significant increase in raccoon imports to Japan, resulting in them being declared an invasive species in the country.
