The upcoming Reincarnated as a Sword anime adaptation revealed the cast and character designs for the main duo – Master (the sword) and Fran. The anime, which was announced in September of last year, still doesn’t have a release date or any staff information.
The main cast for Reincarnated as a Sword includes:
- Shinichiro Miki as Master
- Ai Kakuma as Fran
Master used to be a 30-year-old salaryman but after dying in a car accident he reincarnates as a sword. He is an “intelligent weapon” and grows stronger by absorbing magical stones that defeated monsters drop. Master can move around by using the “movement” skill and is also good at cooking. Loves Fran like a daughter.
Fran is a catgirl who set out on a journey with her parents. They wanted to uncover the secret behind the evolution of their catpeople tribes but were sadly captured by a slave trader. While in captivity, Fran’s parents died and she was left all alone. With time she became an “anonymous” slave and felt very lonely until she met Master whose wielder she then became.
Reincarnated as a Sword, also known as Tenken, is a Japanese light novel series written by Yuu Tanaka. LLO provided illustrations for the novel which started off as a web novel on the user-generated Shosetsuka ni Naro website in October of 2015. GC Novels started publishing it as a light novel in 2016 and it currently has 12 volumes. A manga adaptation by Tomowo Maruyama has also been ongoing since 2016 and is currently has 10 volumes. A spin-off manga titled Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wish started publishing on the Comic Ride website in June of 2020. Hinako Inoue authored the spin-off. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel, the manga, and the spin-off manga.
