The previously announced Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo (I’ll Become a Villainess That Will Go Down in History) revealed a visual and 2024 premiere for the TV anime adaptation. The anime’s official website also opened on Friday. The production studio, staff, and cast are yet to be revealed.
The anime is based on the light novel written by Izumi Okido. It began its serialization as a web novel Shosetsuka ni Naro in December 2018. It was then acquired by Enterbrain who began publishing it as a light novel under its B’s Log Bunko light novel imprint with illustrations by Jyun Hayase in August 2019. It currently has five volumes in circulation. A manga adaptation illustrated by Akari Hoshi began serialization on Enterbrain’s B’s Log Comic manga website in May 2020 and currently has 4 volumes available. Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo‘s commemorative visuals by Okido and Hoshi were released last August.
The series follows the story of Alicia, the eldest daughter of the esteemed Williams family, a lineage renowned for their mastery of dark magic. Despite embodying the role of a villainess, she exists as a fictional character originating in an otome game. Meanwhile, a fervent admirer of Alicia, an unnamed young woman, yearns to become her. Miraculously, her wish is granted through a peculiar twist of fate involving a drowsy truck driver. This twist results in her demise and subsequent rebirth as a seven-year-old Alicia within the confines of the game.
