To celebrate Japan’s unofficial “Rock Day” on June 9, a special collaboration has been announced between the Rock Is a Lady’s Modesty anime and guitar brand PRS (Paul Reed Smith) Guitars. The project centers around a guitar used by the show’s main character, Lilisa Suzunomiya, which is modeled after a PRS design. More details on the collaboration are expected to be revealed soon. The anime’s original soundtrack will be released on July 2 through the major streaming and download services. It features 52 background music tracks, along with five bonus instrumental covers performed by members of BAND-MAID and musician Hitoshiya Ishidoya, known as Miguel.
In addition, a digital campaign highlighting music-themed manga, including Rock Is a Lady’s Modesty and Bocchi the Rock!, is now live across several e-book platforms. From June 9 to 22, select titles are being offered for free or at discounted prices.
The Rock is a Lady’s Modesty manga by Hiroshi Fukuda has been serialized in Young Animal (Hakusensha) since October 2022. There are seven released volumes as of March 28, 2025. The story follows Lilisa Suzunomiya, a girl who becomes the daughter of a real estate tycoon through her mother’s remarriage. She is forced to abandon her guitar and emotions to live a constrained life as a ‘proper lady.’ Lilisa meets Otoha Kurogane, a virtuoso drummer attending the same prestigious girls’ school. Together, they rekindle Lilisa’s passion for rock music and dive into band activities.
A Blu-ray box set for the series is scheduled for release on October 29. It will include newly illustrated cover art and exclusive bonus items depending on the retailer.
Other recent anime about girls in a rock band have been Bocchi the Rock!, BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! and Girls Band Cry.
