The RuriDragon manga is officially getting a TV anime adaptation by studio Kyoto Animation, as announced on December 28. The day is also celebrated as the protagonist Ruri’s birthday, and you can see the special birthday image below.
VIZ Media licensed RuriDragon in English for a Spring 2025 release, and they describe the story of the first volume:
Well, a half dragon. Her mom admits Ruri inherited her draconic traits from her father, who, yes, is actually a dragon. As if dealing with curious classmates wasn’t already challenging enough, Ruri and her dragon genes literally turn up the heat in the middle of a lecture. Her ordinary life is about to be anything but!
RuriDragon by Masaoki Shindo first began as a one-shot series in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA in December 2020. Following its start in June 2022, the manga ended up going on a hiatus in August of the same year due to Shindo’s health. The manga came back on March 4, 2024. After publishing 5 consecutive chapters, the series transitioned to a bi-weekly schedule from April 22 that year, resuming serialization in the magazine’s digital edition and on the Shonen Jump+ platform. The creator previously teased in 2023 that he hoped to bring fans “good news” soon.
