The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 finale preview video was released on the official KADOKAWA Anime’s YouTube channel on Monday—preview images were also released on the official site. After an epic showdown between Naofumi and Kyo last week, the season 2 finale is now upon us!

Shield Hero Season 2 Episode 11 – A Giant Mess Until the Last Minute
After a wild episode last week, it looks like the season finale will be a lot calmer. The episode will go over the memories of what happened throughout the season, as expected. But with Naofumi’s shocked reaction near the end, we might be getting a big surprise to wrap up season 2! It could possibly be an introduction to one last new character that leaves us with a cliffhanger for the already confirmed season 3.
Muneki Ogasawara (Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone), Sakumi Inohashi, and Masatsugu Arakawa (The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 1) will all be making their season 2 directing debut for the finale alongside Daigo Yamagishi (episode 12), who will also work on the storyboard this week with Inohashi. The storyboard production staff also includes Masayuki Kojima (Monster, Made in Abyss), Yohei, and Shingo Kaneko (Soul Eater). Masahiro Suwa (episodes 1, 3, 7-12) and Kota Sera (episodes 2, 4, 6, 8-10, 12) make their return as well as chief animation directors. And as always, for the last time this season, Keigo Koyanagi (episodes 1-12) will work on the screenplay.
Despite its production issues, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 sat comfortably in our top 10 weekly polls throughout the overwhelming majority of the Spring 2022 season, remaining at the #6 spot in back-to-back weeks now. Now that the Spring 2022 is coming to a close, the fans that kept Shield Hero afloat in our polls so far can also vote for it as anime of the season.
Episode 13 of The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 will air on Wednesday, June 29, on Crunchyroll.
