Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You Releases Special Opening and Ending Videos

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You released special opening and ending theme song videos on Friday ahead of its early streaming debut on ABEMA on June 3, prior to the anime’s regular broadcast in July 2026.

The opening and ending sequences feature entirely different songs and animation. The special opening theme, “Kuzuri Nen,” is performed by Zutomayo, while the special ending theme, “NIGHT DANCER,” is performed by imase.

Asahi Production is animating the series and the cast includes:

• Takuya Sato as Sasaki
• Seena Hoshiki as Yamada / Tamaya
• Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki
• Toa Yukinari as Goto
• Megumi Toyoguchi as Ono
• Rikuya Yasuda as Obata
• Yoko Hikasa as Maezawa

Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori are directing the anime with Mio Inoue in charge of the series composition. Yasuka Otaki is designing the characters, and Shin Kono and Sayaka Aoki are composing the music.

Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You anime is based on a manga series that was initially launched as a webcomic published on Twitter in March 2022. Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan magazine serialized the title in August 2022.

Square Enix Manga & Books is also publishing it in English and they describe the first volume as follows:
An overworked salaryman and a mischievous cashier with a dual personality form an unexpected bond in this sweet-and-sour comedy!At age forty-five, office worker Sasaki has had enough of the corporate grind. His only solace is smoking-and the friendly smile of supermarket cashier Yamada. When Sasaki can’t find Yamada after a particularly trying day, a striking woman invites him to smoke with her. The despondent man thinks he’s made a new smoking buddy in the cool, teasing Tayama, but Sasaki doesn’t realize he already knows her!
