Spriggan anime will be coming to Netflix on June 18 of this year, as announced with a new trailer that was revealed earlier. David Production (Jojo’s Bizzare Adventure, Fire Force) is animating the series. The anime was originally slated for the 2021 release but it was delayed.
Spriggan anime is based on a manga written by Hiroshi Takashige and illustrated by Ryoji Minagawa. The manga started publishing in 1989 and received an animated movie adaptation by Studio 4°C in 1998. However, keep in mind that the North American release of the manga uses the name Striker.
Staff for the Spriggan anime includes Hiroshi Kobayashi as a director, Hiroshi Seko as a screenplay writer/series composition, with Shuuei Handa as character designer and chief animation director. The main cast is:
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Yu Ominae
- Yohei Azakami as Jean Jacquemonde
- Ayumu Murase as MacDougal
- Mariya Ise as Yoshino Somei
- Kenji Hamada as Yamamoto
- Ken Narita as Koichi Moroha
Netflix website describes the series’ plot as:
An ancient alien civilization’s relics on Earth hold dangerous powers. The ARCAM corporation’s Spriggan agents must keep them out of the wrong hands.
