Anime studio Sunrise (also known as Bandai Namco Filmworks) has announced that a sequel to the 2006 sci-fi anime Zegapain will be released as a movie in the summer of 2024. The work was produced as part of Zegapain‘s PROJECT REUNION which kicked off in August 2023. Check out the new teaser visual, and the new 15 and 30-second teaser previews below. Voice actor Kengo Kawanishi was also added to the cast as Hal Werth (romanization not confirmed).

In addition to the news that Zegapain is receiving a sequel, its animation studio, Bandai Namco Filmworks, just announced that the anime studio 8-bit will become a wholly-owned subsidiary. 8-bit is behind popular titles such as Blue Lock, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, The Irregular at Magic High School seasons 2 and beyond, and Shy.
Zegapain refers to the 2006 TV series which aired from April to September 2006. Hajime Yatate returns for Zegapain STA, credited for the original work alongside Takehiko Ito. Masami Shimoda will direct the film with the screenplay by Mayori Sekijima. Akihiko Yamashita is responsible for the anime character design. Returning from the original series are the cast members:

Sentai Filmworks licensed the original series for North America. It currently isn’t available on any legal streaming services. The series is officially described:
