Written by Marko Jovanovic

Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a brand-new anime project that will bring together two major studios for the first time. SUNRISE Studios and SHAFT are collaborating on an original animation project, with further details scheduled to be revealed on June 23.

The announcement was shared alongside the launch of an official X account and the start of a five-day countdown campaign leading up to the project’s full reveal at 12:30 a.m. JST on June 24 (June 23 late night in Japan).

As part of the campaign, an initial teaser video was shared featuring color script artwork that offers a first glimpse at the project’s atmosphere and visual direction.

Sunrise, now operating under the Sunrise Studios brand, is best known for its long-running franchises such as Mobile Suit Gundam, Love Live!, and Code Geass.

On the other hand, SHAFT is known for its unique visual style and acclaimed works including Puella Magi Madoka Magica and the Monogatari Series adaptations. The studio is also in charge of the recently revealed Just Like Mona Lisa anime adaptation.

The project’s title, format, story, and production staff are expected to be announced when the countdown concludes next week.
