Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced that SZA’s hit song “Snooze” will serve as the opening theme for Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, the upcoming theatrical installment in the Gundam Hathaway film series.

The film opens in theaters across Japan on January 30, 2026, with a U.S. release planned but not yet dated. A new trailer featuring the track is now streaming on the official Gundam YouTube channel GUNDAM CHANNEL INTL, which you can watch below.

Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe – New Trailer Featuring Opening Theme Song “Snooze” by SZA

Originally featured on SZA’s 2022 album SOS, “Snooze” is described as a a midtempo R&B track known for its minimal arrangement and emotive vocal delivery. The song reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed on the chart for over 70 weeks. The music video marked SZA’s directorial debut and featured a cast including Justin Bieber.

About the Film

The Sorcery of Nymph Circe continues the Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway story, set in U.C. 0105. Hathaway Noa, son of Bright Noa, leads the anti-government resistance MAFTY while haunted by his past and drawn to Gigi Andalucia, a mysterious girl with unexplained abilities. As Hathaway prepares for a decisive attack on the Adelaide Conference, Earth Federation officer Kenneth Sleg initiates a defense operation while navigating political interference. Gigi, meanwhile, departs for Hong Kong to pursue her own objective.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash is planned to be a movie trilogy based on the novel series by Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of the Gundam franchise. The novels were originally published between 1989 and 1990, and are set in the Universal Century timeline, serving as a sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.
