TenSura Season 4 Cour 3 Set for July 2027, Clayman REVENGE Anime Announced for April

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (TenSura) Season 4 will continue with its third cour in July 2027. In addition, the official spin-off That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Clayman REVENGE is getting a TV anime adaptation, set to begin in April 2027.

The announcements were made following the finale of Season 4’s second cour on September 25 through a collaboration video featuring Rimuru and Clayman. Season 4 was previously confirmed for five total cours.

Clayman REVENGE is based on a manga by Wataru Kajika, with the original story by Fuse. The spin-off follows Demon Lord Clayman after his ambitions are crushed by Rimuru, sending him 70 years into the past and exploring an alternate path his life might have taken.

Studio 8bit will handle animation production, as with the main That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime. Kentaro Sugimoto will direct, with Yuji Ikuhara on the series composition, and Asumi Hashimoto and Hideki Sakai as character designers. Takehito Koyasu will reprise his role as Clayman.

A teaser visual for Clayman REVENGE was also released.

Fuse shared the following comment:

“Clayman REVENGE started from a casual idea of mine, and now, incredibly, it’s getting an anime adaptation!

Things have been moving forward smoothly ever since the project began, so even as the original creator who proposed it, I’m feeling pretty nervous about how quickly everything is progressing. (laughs)

Clayman is scolding his subordinates with a serious expression, while the glass in his hand shakes and wine spills from it. It leaves a small stain on his pure white suit… and when Clayman notices, he desperately tries to cover it up so no one realizes how uncool he looks.

The concept behind Clayman REVENGE was simply that this situation alone would already be funny.

At first, I wrote the plot thinking it would be nice if it lasted around two volumes, but thankfully it has been well received by the fans, and now I feel like I want to continue it for as long as possible!

While occasionally having Clayman act seriously, I want this to remain, at its core, a series people can simply enjoy. More than anything, I want not only Kajika-sensei and myself, but also everyone on the anime production staff, all the creators involved, to work together as one team and enjoy making the series.

That is the spirit in which the Clayman REVENGE anime is being produced, so I would be very happy if you continue to support it!!”

Wataru Kajika also commented:

“Just being able to draw a That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime spin-off manga already felt like a miracle to me, so even after I was told it was getting an anime adaptation, it still didn’t feel real for quite a while!

I’ve been shown the anime character designs and even had the chance to visit the recording studio, and I’ve just been constantly moved by everything…!

I’m really, really looking forward to seeing Clayman’s army in the anime!!”

Fuse wrote the Tensura light novel series starting in 2014, featuring illustrations by Mitz Vah. The novel ended on November 29 last year with the release of Volume 23. The anime is adapting the manga, which is drawn by Taiki Kawakami.

The TV anime adaptation by studio 8bit began in October 2018, with the first season until March 2019. The second season was released through 2 split cours in Winter 2021 and Summer 2021. The third one began in April and concluded with Episode 24 on September 27, 2024.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: The Movie – Scarlet Bond was the first movie for the franchise, and it premiered in 2022. The movie had an original story by the creator Fuse, also featuring the movie-original character called Hiiro.

Season 4 was announced alongside this second film after the conclusion of the third season. Crunchyroll is streaming both the first movie and three TV seasons. It’s also bringing the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Tears of the Azure Sea (Tensura Movie 2) to North America on May 1, 2026, with both Japanese with English subtitles and English dub screenings.
