The Apothecary Diaries' Ending Theme Gets Official Love-Filled Anime Music Video

The ending theme song of The Apothecary Diaries anime, “Aikotoba” by AiNA THE END, released a full-length anime music video (AMV) on November 13, 2023, with scenes from the anime that can be viewed below:

The Apothecary Diaries‘ romantic themes are subtle but ever-present throughout the show. The well-received three-episode premiere featured concubine Fuyou, whose “sleepwalking” was actually revealed to be an elaborate ploy to be with her true love. Episode 5’s scene showcasing Jinshi, stunned at Maomao’s beauty, was among the most anticipated of the entire series. More than that, however, the non-romantic love present in Maomao’s past with her father, that Lady Gyokuhou shows her son, the reverence from Lady Lifua’s lady-in-waiting, and in turn, the care that Lifua shows Maomao after bringing her out of her sick and depressive state, are all seen in the video.

The Apothecary Diaries English dubbed premiered on Crunchyroll on November 4 and features Emi Lo as Maomao and Kaiji Tang as Jinshi. The anime is slated for 2 cours over 24 episodes. To go with the ending theme song, Ryokuoushoku Shakai performs the opening, “Hana ni natte.” If readers want to also partake in the love present in the anime, they can vote in week 7 of Top Fall 2023 Anime Rankings. There will also be the later opportunity to vote for AiNA THE END’s “Aikotoba” and Ryokuoushoku Shakai’s “Hana ni natte” at the upcoming Anime Corner Best Opening and Ending Theme Songs of Fall 2023 Anime Season. Summer 2023’s rankings were published last month, with Tatsuya Kitani’s “Ao no Sumika” topping the opening category, and “Kiseki” by Luck Life for the ending category.

Crunchyroll streams The Apothecary Diaries, which is described as:
Maomao lived a peaceful life with her apothecary father. Until one day, she’s sold as a lowly servant to the emperor’s palace. But she wasn’t meant for a compliant life among royalty. So when imperial heirs fall ill, she decides to step in and find a cure! This catches the eye of Jinshi, a handsome palace official who promotes her. Now, she’s making a name for herself solving medical mysteries!
