The Aquarium Does Not Dance Opens Pre-Orders With Physical Bonuses

Frontier Works has officially opened pre-orders for The Aquarium Does Not Dance, the indie horror-adventure game from solo developer daidai, ahead of its August 1, 2025 digital release on Nintendo Switch and Steam. A physical edition for Switch will follow on October 30, exclusively in Japan.

The updated release will feature newly added voice acting for all five main characters, along with additional original scenario content. It marks the first time the game, originally developed over eight years by daidai, is being released for consoles and global audiences with multilingual support, including English, Korean, and both simplified and traditional Chinese.

Physical Edition and Online Shop Exclusives

The Nintendo Switch physical version (¥4,950) includes:

• A Bianca Aquarium Annual Pass, a custom bonus made using actual aquarium pass materials
• A set of four clear bookmarks designed around in-game characters and scenes

A deluxe version, available only via the Frontier Works online store (¥15,950), adds:

• A mini soundtrack CD with new piano arrangements by Cocoro Mashima
  • Features nine tracks and rerecorded versions of select tracks from the 2024 vinyl release. The CD jacket features original art by the game’s creator, daidai.
  • The tracklist includes:

    • Penguin no Juusho / Shinkai Sekai
    • Shiranai / Mawari Kasumu Sekai

Pre-orders through the official store also include entry into a lottery for an autograph board signed by the entire voice cast, including Tomoyo Kurosawa (Suze), Yumiri Hanamori (Retro), Satomi Sato (Lulu), Rie Kugimiya (Kitty), and Tomoe Tamiyasu (Chrissy).

The Aquarium Does Not Dance is a single-player pixel-art horror adventure set in a mysterious aquarium where the player solves puzzles while exploring fragmented narratives. The console release follows an earlier teaser and full voice cast reveal, first introduced ahead of its scheduled Anime Expo 2025 panel.
