The Colors Within Movie Reveals New Trailer Ahead of World Premiere

The upcoming Kimi no Iro (The Colors Within) movie by the director Naoko Yamada revealed a new trailer. The movie premieres on August 30 in Japan while the world premiere is happening at the upcoming Annecy International Animation Film Festival this June, where the movie will compete. GKIDS licensed The Colors Within for North America with a winter release date. Science SARU is animating.

The Colors Within – Trailer

 Reiko Yoshida is writing the script for the movie with Kensure Ushio as the music composer. Daisuke Richard is credited with the original character design, while Takashi Kojima is in charge of doing them for the movie. The main cast includes Sayu Suzukawa as Totsuko Higurashi, Akari Takaishi as Kimi Sakunaga, Taisei Kido as Rui Kagehira, and Yui Aragaki as Hiyoshiko.

The plot of the upcoming Kimi no Iro is described as:
“I can see people’s hearts in colors.”
Totsuko is a high school student at religious high chool in Nagasaki and she can see people’s emotions as colors.
Whether they’re happy colors, sad colors, peaceful colors, frightened colors… In order to not darken her loved ones’ colors, Totsuko is careful about keeping them all bright and happy.
One day, she mees a beautiful girl in a bookstore, who radiates all kinds of beautiful colors. Two of them end up forming a band with a boy who loves music.
These three sensitive people get together and begin to play the music of their youth.

The movie was initially slated to premiere in 2023 but was pushed back to this year.
