The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 Reveals Third Trailer and New Cast, October 7 Premiere

The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 revealed its third main trailer, along with new voice cast members and October 7, 2026 premiere date.

Nobuhiko Okamoto joins the cast as Scarlet, one of the Tuners and a character identified as the “Vampire.” Akari Komiyama will voice Mia Whitlock, another member of the Tuners who holds the role of “Priestess.”

The opening theme, “Kono Shinzou ni Hanataba wo” (A Bouquet for This Heart), is written, composed, and arranged by 40mP and performed by Kokorone. The ending theme, “Hakuchumu” (Daydream), is also written, composed, and arranged by 40mP, with vocals by Kagura Nana.

Both are featured in the new trailer.

The first season of the anime ended on September 19, 2021, after a total of 12 episodes. Manabu Kurihara directed it at studio ENGI. The main cast consists of:

• Saki Miyashita as Siesta
• Ayana Taketatsu as Nagisa Natsunagi
• Arata Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka
• Kanon Tako as Yui Saikawa

A key visual for the second season was previously revealed.

The Detective is Already Dead is a Japanese light novel series written by Nigozyu and illustrated by Umibozu. Media Factory started publishing the series in November 2019. The series also has 2 manga adaptation: one by Mugiko (2020-2023) and one by Poni (2021-2022).

Yen Press licensed The Detective is Already Dead light novel series in English. Crunchyroll streams the anime, describing the story:
After thwarting a hijacking with beautiful, silver-haired detective Siesta, Kimihiko leads a life of globe-trotting and crime-solving—until Siesta dies. A year later, a new case will open old wounds as it threads murder, conspiracy, and his dead partner!

It was previously confirmed that The Detective Is Already Dead light novel Volume 14 will be released in Japan on October 23, with its cover illustration revealed.
