The Elusive Samurai ending reached 1 million views on YouTube just 10 days after being released. The ending theme song “Kamakura STYLE” is performed by Bocchi Boromaru. Yuta Yamazaki is directing The Elusive Samurai at studio CloverWorks with Yusuke Kawakami working as the assistant director. Yoriko Tomita is handling the script and series composition. Akiyuki Tateyama and GEMBI are composing the music. Yasushi Nishiya is in charge of the character designs.
Asaki Yuikawa is voicing the main protagonist Tokiyuki Hojo while Yuuichi Nakamura is voicing Yorishige Suwa. The rest of the current cast includes Aoi Yuuki as Genba Kazawa, Hinaki Yano as Shizuku, Katsuyuki Konishi as Takauji Ashikaga, Kikunosuke Toya as Fubuki, Mari Hino as Kojiro Nezu, and Sayumi Suzushiro as Ayako Mochizuki.
The Elusive Samurai anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by Yusei Matsui, most famously known for creating Assassination Classroom. The series began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in January 2021 and has since released 162 chapters and 16 volumes. VIZ Media licenses the ongoing series in English and has published the first 11 volumes. Fans can read the weekly-released chapters in English on the official Shonen Jump and Manga Plus apps.
The manga won the 69th Shogakukan Manga Award earlier this year alongside titles such as Frieren Beyond Journey’s End by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, Trillion Game by Riichirou Inagaki and Ryoichi Ikegami, and Suji de Asobo. by Murako Kinuta. The Elusive Samurai manga currently has over 2 million copies in circulation.
VIZ Media describes the story as:
After the massacre of his family by the traitor Ashikaga Takauji, Tokiyuki flees with the help of a handful of loyal retainers who have also survived the purge. One of them is Suwa Yorishige, an ally of the Hojo clan and lord of Suwa Province. The slightly odd Yorishige also claims to be clairvoyant and foretells that Tokiyuki will one day become the ruler of Japan. But for the moment, escaping from enemy territory is the priority!
