The Elusive Samurai will have a recap episode next week on September 7, which means Episode 10 will be delayed to September 14. The recap will cover the events from the episodes so far, with narration by Yuichi Nakamura (Yorishige Suwa).
The Elusive Samurai anime is based on the manga of the same name by Yusei Matsui, who is also the creator of The Assassination Classroom. The manga has been published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump since 2021. Viz Media is publishing it in English.
Studio CloverWorks is animating the anime adaptation, with the main staff consisting of Yuta Yamazaki as the director, Yasushi Nishiya as the character designer, Yoriko Tomita in charge of the series composition, and Yoriko Tomita in charge of the script. The main voice cast for the anime includes:

- Yuichi Nakamura as Yorishige Suwa
- Hinaki Yano as Shizuku
- Mari Hino as Kojiro
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Ayako
- Aoi Yuki as Genba Kazama

- Katsuyuki Konishi as Takauji Ashikaga

In the year 1333, the Kamakura shogunate government comes crumbling down. A trusted vassal, Ashikaga Takauji, betrays the shogunate and organizes a rebellion. Hojo Tokiyuki, the rightful heir, escapes the massacre with a Shinto priest named Suwa Yorishige to Kamakura. On the run and fighting to stay alive, Tokiyuki sets in motion his plan to reclaim his birthright.
