Mechanical Marie Details
Aki Akimoto first published Mechanical Marie as a one-shot manga through Hakusensha’s LaLa Magazine in March 2020. Hakusensha green-lit a serialization in LaLa magazine, which ran from June of that year until June 2023. The individual Kikaijikake no Marie chapters were compiled into six tankobon volumes. Yen Press announced the manga’s English print publication in February and released the first English volume of the manga in August. The second volume is due for release on February 24, 2026.
Zero-G and Studio Liber adapted the manga into a 12-episode TV anime. It aired during the 2025 fall anime season.
Mechanical Marie centers around Marie Evans, a former professional fighter with a stoic expression, who becomes a maid to pay off her debts. While Marie’s job appears straightforward, it’s not. Marie serves under Arthur Louis Zetes, the wealthy heir to a successful corporation, who, due to constant assassination attempts and deception, has deep-seated misanthropy. Since Arthur can’t trust or stand to be around people, Marie must dutifully play the role of a robotic maid. But despite Marie’s mechanical exterior, she soon finds herself longing for Arthur’s affection, a longing that, unknown to her, Arthur also shares. But can a love built on subterfuge survive?
The anime featured Nao Toyama (Rin in Laid-Back Camp) as Marie and Haruki Ishiya (Akiteru Ooboshi in My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me) as Author.
