The New Gate anime revealed a new key visual ahead of the April 13 premiere date. Studios Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts are animating the series, under Tamaki Nakatsu’s direction.
The cast for The New Gate anime includes:
- Kensho Ono as Shin
- Asami Seto as Schnee Raizar
- Kaede Hondo as Tiera Lucent
- Miho Okasaki as Yuzuha
- Shunya Hiruma as Wilhelm Avis
- Akiho Suzumoto as Millie
- Kaori Ishihara as Rashia Luzel
The anime will adapt the light novel series written by Shinogi Kazanami and illustrated by Makai no Juumin (Volumes 1-9), KeG (Volumes 10-11), and Banpai Akira (Volume12-onwards). The light novel currently has 21 volumes out, while the manga adaptation with art by Yoshiyuki Miwa is currently on its 13th volume. The title of the series is stylized as THE NEW GATE.
One Peace Books licensed the manga in English, describing the plot of the first volume as:
THE NEW GATE—an online game transformed into a life-and-death struggle for its players. Thanks to the valiant efforts of Shin, the most powerful of them all, an end to the game and freedom for everyone seemed within reach. But just moments after Shin defeats the game’s final boss, he finds himself bathed in an unknown light and transported some 500 years into the future of the in-game world.
