THE NEW GATE anime by Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts was announced on November 9, 2023, with the anime’s first teaser visual and cast information. The series will premiere in 2024. THE NEW GATE main cast is below:

- Schnee Raizar: Asami Seto (Raphtalia in The Rising of the Shield Hero, Nobara Kugisaki in Jujutsu Kaisen)

THE NEW GATE by Yokohama Animation Lab and Cloud Hearts will premiere in 2024. The anime will adapt author Shinogi Kazanami’s original light novel and will join Yoshiyuki Miwa’s manga of the same name in adapting his work. Neither the light novel nor manga has been licensed in English. The light novel was first released on December 27, 2013 by publisher Alphapolis, and has reached 21 volumes. The manga adaptation began on August 31, 2015, and has been collected into 13 volumes as of November 2023. THE NEW GATE light novel series passed 150,000 sales in September 2015. The anime has not announced its release date as of November 9.
THE NEW GATE staff includes Shinogi Kazanami (original light novel author), with the light novel illustration by Makai no Juumin, KeG, and Banpai Akira (Vampire Killer). Yoshiyuki Miwa illustrates the manga adaptation. Tamaki Nakatsu (episode direction: Fullmetal Alchemist) directs the series. Hiroki Uchida (I’m Giving the Disgraced Noble Lady I Rescued a Crash Course in Naughtiness) is in charge of the series composition. Itsuki Takemoto (sub-character design: The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) will design the characters, and music will be handled by Tatsuhiko Saiki (Iceblade Sorcerer), Yuya Mori (Seitokai Yakuindomo), Misaki Tsuchida, and Tsugumi Tanaka.
The official synopsis of the anime is:
The online game “THE NEW GATE” was bustling with many players, but the virtual space suddenly transformed, trapping and tormenting people in the game world. To shatter this situation, one young man stood up – Shin, the strongest player in the game. Blocking his way was the greatest enemy in this world, Origin. “It’s over…!” At the end of a fight to the death, Shin’s killing blow pierced through Origin’s body. The ringing announcement confirmed the game’s completion, and the liberation of the imprisoned players. As people began to log out, Shin also bid farewell to the familiar world. However, at that moment, a new door suddenly opened before him――What unfolded before Shin, wrapped in light was… the world of “THE NEW GATE”, 500 years after clearing the game!
