The previously announced The Ramparts of Ice Season 2 revealed an announcement trailer on Saturday. The sequel is set to premiere on October 1 this year with studio KAI returning to animate.
A special collaboration illustration was also released on Friday featuring female protagonists of You and I Are Polar Opposites and The Ramparts of Ice. It is part of the ongoing “Kocha Agasawa Anime Year” project, celebrating the anime adaptations of both manga series by Kocha Agasawa.
Mankyu directed the first season with Yasuhiro Nakanishi doing the series composition. Miki Ogino is on character designs, while Kana Sakuma and Natsumi Tabuchi are on music. The cast includes:
- Anna Nagase as Koyuki Hikawa
- Fuka Izumi as Miki Azumi
- Shoya Chiba as Minato Amamiya
- Satoshi Inomata as Yota Hino
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Tsubasa Igarashi
- Sakura Shinfuku as Tsukiko Shimojima
The anime is based on a Japanese web manga by Kocha Agasawa. It was initially launched as a digital webtoon before being serialized on Line Manga, LINE’s digital comics platform. The series started on January 10, 2020, and concluded after two years on April 28, 2022. MangaPlaza is publishing the manga in English, describing it as follows:
Koyuki Hikawa isn’t great with people and always puts up a wall between others. She had been spending her high school days alone, but one day meets the overly friendly Minato Amamiya. The loner, Koyuki, the popular girl, Miki, the guy with no personal space, Minato, and the laid back member of the basketball team, Yota… The story of these four somewhat awkward students in their bloom of youth begins!
