The upcoming The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 has received the third trailer during AnimeJapan 2022, along with a new key visual. The series will premiere on April 6, 2022.
The third Shield Hero Season 2 trailer features the ending theme, which is titled “Yuzurenai” and performed by Fujikawa Chiai,
Studio Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss) and DR Movie (Elsword) will animate the second season, while Masato Jinbo (Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2Wei!, Shakugan no Shana) is directing. The first season of the anime aired in 2019, which had a total of 25 episodes. Takao Abo (Norn9) directed it, while studio Kinema Citrus took care of the animation.
Aneko Yusagi first launched The Rising of the Shield Hero web novel series on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website. Media Factory started serializing a light novel adaptation with Seira Minami’s illustrations in 2013 and it currently has 22 volumes available. A manga adaptation by Aiya Kyu is also being published by the same publisher. The cumulative copies of both light novel and manga series have already surpassed 11 million copies in circulation. One Piece Books licensed The Rising of the Shield Hero in English. Season 2 of the anime will start at volume 6, and you can read the synopsis below:
After their battle with Glass, Naofumi and his friends work to revitalize the Cal Mira islands before returning to the castle. On the ship back to Melromarc, they meet a young girl named Rishia, who claims to have been tricked and abandoned by her companions. Naofumi, sympathizing with her fate, agrees to listen to her story, and she joins the party. Eventually, Naofumi discovers that she has a talent for transformation magic, but before they can discuss it, someone comes running to beg the heroes for assistance.
