The upcoming The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 has officially confirmed an April 6, 2022 premiere date. There will also be a special program featuring Asami Seto (Raphtalia) and Rina Hidaka (Filo) before the broadcast.

The anime was originally set to premiere in October 2022, but it was delayed.
Kaito Ishikawa is returning to voice the main character, Naofumi, and Asami Seto will also reprise her role as Raphtalia. Rina Hidaka and Maaya Uchida are also back as Filo and Melty. Kana Hanazawa will also join the cast as Ost Horai.
The Japanese band, MADKID, who performed the two opening songs of season 1 is also back for season 2’s opening theme titled “Bring Back”. The ending song of the series will be performed by Chiai Fujikawa, who also performed the ending songs of the 1st season. Watch the trailer below:
Studio Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0) and DR Movie (Elsword) is taking care of the animation of season 2, while Masato Jinbo (Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya 2Wei!, Shakugan no Shana) is directing. The first season of the anime aired in 2019, and it had a total of 25 episodes. Takao Abo directed the first season, while studio Kinema Citrus animated it.

Aneko Yusagi first launched The Rising of the Shield Hero web novel series on the Shusetsuka ni Naro website from 2012 to 2015. Media Factory has been publishing a light novel adaptation with Seira Minami’s illustration since 2013. The light novel is still ongoing and it currently has 22 volumes available. The same publisher is also serializing a manga adaptation by Aiya Kyu. The cumulative count of both light novel and manga series has already surpassed 11 million copies in circulation.
One Piece Books licensed The Rising of the Shield Hero light novel series in English. Season 2 will start on the 6th volume of the series and you can read the synopsis below:
After their battle with Glass, Naofumi and his friends work to revitalize the Cal Mira islands before returning to the castle. On the ship back to Melromarc, they meet a young girl named Rishia, who claims to have been tricked and abandoned by her companions. Naofumi, sympathizing with her fate, agrees to listen to her story, and she joins the party. Eventually, Naofumi discovers that she has a talent for transformation magic, but before they can discuss it, someone comes running to beg the heroes for assistance. A monster wearing something like a turtle shell needs to be chased off. The monster is so powerful that even the mightiest adventurers cannot defeat him—so what hope is there for Naofumi? Those answers and more in volume 6 as the epic fantasy continues!
