The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4 is officially set to reveal new information on February 25, with the official X teasing it for an upcoming live radio broadcast program. The upcoming season was announced in January 2024, only revealing a teaser visual in July of the same year. There is yet to be a release date.
The live program will feature appearances from two of the main voice cast members from the anime. Asami Seto (voice of Raphtalia) and Rina Hidaka (voice of Filo) will be present, with their characters featured on the announcement visual.
About The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime
The Rising of the Shield Hero anime adaptation began with a 25-episode Season 1, which was animated by Kinema Citrus and aired in 2019. Directed by Takao Abo, it focused on Naofumi’s redemption arc, from being falsely accused by Malty (Myne) and despised to proving himself as a true hero while building his party with Raphtalia and Filo.
The 13-episode Season 2 aired in 2022, and it was a collaboration between Kinema Citrus and DR Movie. Directed by Masato Jinbo, it shifted the focus to the Spirit Tortoise Arc, going deeper into the lore of the world and having Naofumi begin to establish himself as the most reliable of the four heroes.
The third season, animated solely by Kinema Citrus, aired for 12 episodes from October to December 2023. Directed by Hitoshi Haga, it explored Naofumi rebuilding his domain and revealed Raphtalia’s hidden royal lineage, setting up Naofumi’s confrontation with Q’ten Lo.

Season 3 of The Rising of the Shield Hero anime ended with Naofumi deciding to confront Q’ten Lo after they sent assassins after Raphtalia. We learned that she is a descendant of the royal family, and her wearing the Miko dress was seen as a claim to the throne. Her parents had previously left Q’ten Lo in search of a peaceful life at Melromarc.
While not many details about the new season are known, its tagline is “The return of the exiled.” Check out the previously revealed teaser visual and announcement trailer below.”
