The Vermilion Mask Reveals Second Trailer, Key Visual, Theme Songs and 6 New Cast Members

Written by Marko Jovanovic

The Vermilion Mask anime has revealed its second main trailer and key visual, along more cast and an October 10 premiere. The anime was previously confirmed as a two-part series, with the first cour set to premiere in October 2026. Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime.

The anime is directed by Tetsuaki Watanabe with One Double-O studio handling animation production. Daisuke Ohigashi oversees the series composition, Hisashi Higashijima serves as character designer and chief animation director, and Alisa Okehazama is composing the music. Original creators Dr. Poro and Nabana Naba are also supervising the story.

MAN WITH A MISSION will perform the opening theme “Firestarter,” while yutori will perform the ending theme “Koe.” Both songs are featured in the new trailer, which you can watch below.

Leading the main voice cast is Taihi Kimura as Peru d’Arrest, following his recent announcement as the voice of Chihiro Rokuhira in the upcoming KAGURABACHI anime. Joining the main cast are:

  • Kenji Nojima as Hien
  • Aoi Koga as Lasgarl
  • Yuki Shin as Clown
  • Akihisa Wakayama as Rinne
  • Aya Endo as The Mask of Necromancy
  • Yui Horie as Master

Hien is a member of Lisblanc’s Governance Guard who initially looks up to Gouon like a father, before an incident turns his feelings toward Peru into hatred. Nojima commented:

“When I heard the word ‘mask’ I read straight on through the script with real interest — I have always loved the masks of Noh and kagura.
A mask disguises you as someone else. Everyone must carry a few masks of their own, and if you keep wearing the mask of the person you long to be, it seems you might reach a point where you can no longer take it off. Even when you face someone with an honest expression, your mask is doubted, or you find yourself doubting theirs. Where does a mask that is meant to protect you ultimately lead? It gave me a great deal to think about. I want to keep facing what is in my own heart. I hope you enjoy this series.”

Lasgarl is described as a book-loving woman who commands sound through her mask, with her personality changing once battle begins. Koga commented:

“I’m Aoi Koga, and I’ll be voicing Lasgarl.
When I heard I got the part, I couldn’t believe I was going to be part of this work as Lasgarl — it was a wonderful surprise, and at the same time my heart was racing in all sorts of ways over what she might get up to next.
I think readers of the original manga must be curious about her too, so I’ll be looking forward to where the story goes while giving the role everything I have.
Being entrusted with an enemy character is new territory for me and a real challenge, but I’ll do my best to make her someone who stands up against the heroes as they stand against her in turn, never once backing down to the intensity they bring. I hope you’ll look forward to it.”

The series adapts the manga written by Dr. Poro and illustrated by Nabana Naba, currently serialized in Young King OURs magazine from Shonengahosha. It has published 8 volumes so far.
