Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Spin-Off Gets Anime Adaptation

Spin-off manga After-School Hanako-kun is getting an anime adaptation. This is the first installment of the Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun new anime project that was previously announced. Studio Lerche will be animating the adaptation, which will have short episodes. Each episode will stream two days early on Crunchyroll starting on October 10.

Masaki Kitamura will direct the series, with Kazuma Nagatomo in charge of the series composition. Aya Higami will be thr chief animation director and character designer. Hiroshi Takaki will compose the music. Cast members include Megumi Ogata as Hanako-kun, Akari Kito as Nene Yashiro and Shoya Chiba as Ko Minamoto.

The anime is based on a manga by AidaIro. Yen Press describes the plot as:
“Hanako-san, Hanako-san… are you there?” At Kamome Academy, rumors abound about the school’s Seven Mysteries, one of which is Hanako-san. Said to occupy the third stall of the third floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building, Hanako-san grants any wish when summoned. Nene Yashiro, an occult-loving high school girl who dreams of romance, ventures into this haunted bathroom… but the Hanako-san she meets there is nothing like she imagined! Kamome Academy’s Hanako-san… is a boy!

The spin-off manga began serialization in 2018.
