Japanese voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda appears as a working father in the new TV commercial for Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s Calorie Mate drink. Tsuda’s senior and fellow voice actor, Kazuhiko Inoue, lends his voice as the father’s pet cat.
The commercial “I Am Nourishment – Every Day With Monsters” depicts Tsuda as a father who works from home. It begins with the cat thinking, “I am nourishment,” as it looks at its owner working. The owner turns to the cat and plays with it, which seems to help him feel better. When the owner goes back to work, his energetic child, whom the cat sees as the titular “monster” of the household, comes in, disrupting things by saying, “It’s boring!” in an online meeting. The father panicks and apologizes to someone in the video call, and the cat reacts like this is a usual occurrence. The father then grabs a Calorie Mate drink and takes a sip while his child rests with him. The commercial conveys the message of taking care of both body and mind to get through the busy day.
Tsuda, also a father of two kids in real life, was able to communicate with the two child actors with ease even outside of filming. Also, one of the highlights of the shoot is Tsuda’s challenge in gaining the trust of the cat, Miko. Tsuda also posted on his official X account that he is honored to be able to work with Inoue. The commercial will begin showing nationwide in Japan on March 30. There are two versions of the PV available on YouTube, one with 30 seconds runtime and the other with 15 second runtime. Kenjiro Tsuda is a Japanese voice actor from Osaka Prefecture, Japan. He is currently affiliated with the talent agency ANDSTIR, and he is best known as the voice of Kento Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen, Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh!, Joker in Fire Force, Tatsu in The Way of the Househusband, and many more.
Kazuhiko Inoue, the voice of the cat Miko, is Tsuda’s senior and fellow voice actor. A veteran who’s been active in the industry since 1973, Inoue is known for his versatility. Some of his most iconic roles include Kakashi Hatake in the Naruto series, Kars in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency, Yoriichi Tsugikuni in Demon Slayer, and Gildarts Clive in Fairy Tail.
