The official website describes the story for the episode:
Jushiro Ukitake, having unleashed the power of Mimihagi, the right hand of the Soul King residing within his body, becomes Mimihagi itself. In doing so, he takes the place of the slain Soul King to stop the world from collapsing. However, Yhwach, intending to destroy the Soul King along with Mimihagi, unleashes an attack. As Ichigo and his group try to stop Yhwach, they are met with an unexpected attack—an arrow fired by Uryu Ishida. Ichigo, confused by Uryu’s actions, confronts him to ask about his true intentions, but Uryu responds with hollow words and hostility.
