ONE PIECE is celebrating Christmas on December 25 this year with a special animated video of Uta dressed as Santa, which was announced last week. The video also features Chopper carrying a sleigh, with Dr. Kureha riding instead of Santa Claus. The short video is also being shown on large screens in Tokyo and Osaka since December 19 (Monday), and will finish showing today. You can watch the video on the official Twitter account:
Uta is one of the main characters in ONE PIECE FILM RED, which grossed over ¥2.25 billion (~$15 million) with 1.57 million attendees in the opening weekend in Japan. That made the biggest opening-weekend numbers when it comes to both the audience and earnings of films in 2022, and it also quickly became the best-performing film in ONE PIECE‘s history.
Crunchyroll describes the story for the movie:
Uta—the most beloved singer in the world whose voice has been described as “otherworldly”—is renowned for concealing her own identity when performing. Now, for the first time ever, she will reveal herself to the world at a live concert.
With the Navy watching closely, the venue fills with Uta’s fans—including excited pirates and the Straw Hats led by Luffy, who simply came to enjoy her sonorous performance—all eagerly awaiting the voice that the whole world has been waiting for to resound. The story begins with the shocking revelation that she is the enigmatic Shanks’ daughter.
