Voice actress Shu Uchida has recently debuted her own VTuber model on January 21. As a Japanese-Australian voice actress, she spoke Japanese and English as well during her debut stream.
Her VTuber model was designed by Takuya Fujima, who has worked as an original character designer for multiple anime series, including ViVid Strike!, Z/X: Code Reunion, Extreme Hearts, and is also credited for the upcoming original racing anime Highspeed Etoile. Fujima is also a manga writer and artist, with works such as Negima!? Neo, Free Collars Kingdom, and Weiß Survive.
Uchida is known for her multiple roles in the 2016 Kantai Collection game where she voiced Warspite, Ark Royal, Gambier Bay, Perth, and Mikura. She also Crystal Garson in How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?, Fujiwara in Asobi Asobase, Machiko Sugawara in PuraOre! Pride of Orange, and Mia Taylor in the second season of Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.
There are multiple voice actors who have also ventured into VTubing. In 2021, Magic Knight Rayearth voice actress Hekiru Shiina debuted her VTuber model named Hekiru Shiina. Meanwhile, Mayu Iizuka–who has voiced Airi Eniwa in CUE!–revealed that she was the VTuber Yume Kotobuki, and has been doing it for three years.
Over at the English side, voice actress Amanda Lee, who voiced Marin Kitagawa in the English My Dress-Up Darling and Ai Hayasaka in Kaguya-sama: Love is War, debuted her VTuber model named Monarch in December 2021. She later released an album in June 2022 under her VTuber persona titled Rise of the Monarch. Alejandro Saab, who voiced Cyno in Genshin Impact among others, also has a VTuber named Cy Yu.
