Will Serfort and Elfaria Albis Serfort both celebrate their birthday on December 24, and the author of Wistoria: Wand and Sword, Fujino Omori, shared a beautiful illustration of the two. He also doubled it down as a Christmas greeting for its fans, with his message reading:
“December 24th is Will and Elpharia’s birthday celebration!!!
Happy Birthday to both of them 🎉🎉🎉
& Merry Christmas 🎂🎄✨✨”
The official anime account also commemorated their birthday with special graphics.
Fujino Omori (also the author of Danmachi) writes the Wistoria: Wand and Sword manga, which is illustrated by Toshi Aoi. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since December 9, 2020, with 11 published volumes as of November. Kodansha USA licensed it in English.
The story follows the ‘talent-less’ Will Serfort, a mage without magic attending a magic academy with the hope of becoming a Magia Vander, one of the world’s top mages. He needs to accomplish that to reunite with his gifted childhood friend, Elfaria, and he has to face severe lack of respect from most of his fellow classmates. However, he is determined to reach his goal even without magic, showing that hard work and perseverance can get him far.
Studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures adapted Wistoria: Wand and Sword into a TV anime, with Tatsuya Yoshihara as the director. The anime started as a hidden gem, but ended up frequenting our weekly rankings popular, having ranked 9th and 5th in our first two weekly rankings.
We also got the chance to speak with the show’s producer, who praised its staff as the ‘greatest to ever assemble.’
Season 2 of the anime is currently in production.
