Wind Breaker Season 2 was announced on Thursday after the Season 1 finale. The new season will air in 2025 and will be streaming on Crunchyroll. Check out the video announcement below:
Studio CloverWorks animated the first season with Toshifumi Akai as the director and Hiroshi Seko (Chainsaw Man) in charge of the series composition. Taishi Kawakami (Akebi’s Sailor Uniform) worked as the chief animation director and character designer while Ryo Takahashi (Arifureta) composed the music.
Wind Breaker received a lot of success this season in Anime Corner’s weekly polls, placing in the top 10 of every single week throughout the season, even claiming the number one spot for Week 8. The series placed in the top five for six out of the 11 weeks after being voted the fourth-most anticipated anime heading into the Spring 2024 season. The opening for the anime is currently creeping up to 4 million views on the official Aniplex YouTube channel, making it one of the most popular openings of the season as well.

Wind Breaker Episode 12 Review
Wind Breaker received rather fair ratings on anime-scoring websites. The series placed 16th for the season on MyAnimeList with a score of 7.79, falling just short of CloverWorks’ other anime series airing at the same time, Black Butler Public School Arc (7.97). Over on Anilist, Wind Breaker ranked a little higher, placing 14th with an average score of 77%.
The series garnered some praise on social throughout the season due to its stellar display of hand-to-hand combat animation throughout the season and wonderful visual storytelling. The series even has a stacked voice cast that includes some of the following voice actors and actresses that many anime fans know very well:

- Hajime Umemiya – Yuuichi Nakamura (Gojo – Jujutsu Kaisen)
- Hayato Suo – Shimazaki Nobunaga (Shinichi – Parasyte)

- Akihiko Nirei – Shoya Chiba (Shin – 86 Eighty-Six)
- Kotoha Tachibana – Ikumi Hasegawa (Lena – 86 Eighty-Six)
- Choji Tomiyama – Toya Kikunosuke (Denji – Chainsaw Man)
- Toma Hiragi – Ryota Suzuki (Ryusui – Dr. Stone)
The Wind Breaker anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by Satoru Nii that has been serialized on the manga website Magazine Pocket since January 2021. There are currently 17 volumes released with no announced date for the next one. Kodansha USA is publishing the series in English, with the first six volumes currently available in print and the first 15 digitally.
Crunchyroll is streaming Wind Breaker with English subtitles and describes the story as:
Welcome to Furin High School, an institution infamous for its population of brawny brutes who solve every conflict with a show of strength. Some of the students even formed a group, Bofurin, which protects the town. Haruka Sakura, a first-year student who moved in from out of town, is only interested in one thing: fighting his way to the top.
