Witch Hat Atelier – Welcome Visual

Ayumu Watanabe is directing the anime based on a manga series by Kamome Shirahama. Kairi Unabara is doing character designs and Yuka Kitamura is composing the music. The anime was announced back in 2022.

We also had a chance to speak to Kamone Shirahama, Ayumu Watanabe and Hiroaki Kojima where asked about the inspiration for Witch Hat Atelier as well as about how the three envisioned different aspects of the anime series.

Kodansha USA has been serializing the manga in English since 2019, and they describe the plot as follows:
In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: she wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch … until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem…

I can talk about seiyuus for days and a connoisseur of cute girls doing cute things. Fluffy romance and girls coming of age stories always make me smile. I mostly watch slice-of-life and rom-coms with drama on the side. A firm believer of the girls' band era.
