Witch Hat Atelier revealed a new teaser trailer featuring the main cast and an April 2026 premiere on Tuesday. The series stars Rena Motomura as Coco and Natsuki Hanae as Qifrey. Character visuals for both main characters and comments from the main voice cast were also released.
Rena Motomura’s comment:
I’m Reina Motomura, and I have the honor of voicing Coco. As I turned each page of the story, I was reminded of the small, precious moments of childhood and the pure sense of wonder that comes with having a dream. I found myself deeply connected with Coco and completely absorbed in her world. When I learned I’d been chosen for the role, I was so happy that tears came before words. The magical world created by Shirahama-sensei has been brought to life beautifully in this anime, and I’ve poured my heart into portraying Coco. I truly hope this story reaches as many people as possible.
Natsuki Hanae’s comment:
I’m truly honored to play Qifrey, a key character with a gentle yet slightly melancholic gaze and an air of mystery. It’s also special for me that Ms. Motomura, who plays Coco, is a junior colleague from my agency — it felt like we shared a mentor-student bond even during the recording sessions. The enchanting and beautiful world created by Shirahama-sensei has been brought to life wonderfully through Director Watanabe’s vision. Please look forward to the broadcast.

The anime series was delayed from 2025 to 2026 in order deliver the series with the highest possible quality. Kodansha USA has been serializing the manga which the series is based on in English since 2019. They describe the plot as follows:
In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: she wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch … until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem…
We also had a chance to speak to Kamone Shirahama, Ayumu Watanabe and Hiroaki Kojima where asked about the inspiration for Witch Hat Atelier as well as about how the three envisioned different aspects of the anime series.
