You Can’t Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends anime revealed a new trailer on Tuesday which features the opening theme song “I Love You♡” by Honeyworks meets Shio Minamo・Akari Hiodoshi・Runa Tsukimi・Haru Hinata (CV: Rin Kusumi・Yu Serizawa・Sae Hiratsuka・Yuki Yamamoto). The anime will premiere on January 5, 2026.
Studio Tezuka Productions is animating the series based on a manga of the same name written and drawn by Shinya Misu. Mitsutaka Hirota is in charge of the series composition and Reina Iwasaki is designing the characters. A trailer showcasing the ending theme song “Amanojaku” by Hikari Kodama was previously released.
The story follows Eeyuu, a high school boy caught in a dilemma when his two childhood friends, Shio and Akari, suddenly became cute. Though neither girl shows romantic interest in him, Eeyuu struggles to hide his growing attraction and fearing the embarrassment if they ever found out. However, little did he know, Shio and Akari each harbor secrets of their own.
