Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End TV anime has unveiled a new visual featuring the hero’s party. The series, which will have a two-hour premiere on September 29, revealed its second trailer last month.
Studio Madhouse (A Place Further Than The Universe) is animating the series with Keiichirou Saito (Bocchi the Rock!) as director. Tomohiro Suzuki (One Punch Man) is writing the scripts while Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) is composing the music. Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny) is adapting the character designs from the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. Atsumi Tanezaki is voicing the titular character Frieren, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel, Hiroki Tochi as Heiter, and Yoji Ueda as Eisen.
The manga that the anime is adapting has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020. Viz Media is licensing the manga in English and describes the plot as follows:
Elf mage Frieren and her courageous fellow adventurers have defeated the Demon King and brought peace to the land. With the great struggle over, they all go their separate ways to live a quiet life. But as an elf, Frieren, nearly immortal, will long outlive the rest of her former party. How will she come to terms with the mortality of her friends? How can she find fulfillment in her own life, and can she learn to understand what life means to the humans around her? Frieren begins a new journey to find the answer.
