BUCCHIGIRI, an original anime announced during MAPPA stage 2023, is coming to our screens on January 13. It will be directed by Hiroko Utsumi, who is most known for directing the action-drama anime Banana Fish and other titles such as Free! Eternal Summer and Sk8 the Infinity, and animated by MAPPA. Utsumi is also credited as one of the original creators.
The plot of Bucchigiri follows Arajin Tomoshibi, who reunites with his former best friend Matakara Asamine. However, their reunion is cut short after a battle with the strongest guys in town ensues. But then, a giant genie appears, throwing everything into even more chaos. The title is stylized as BUCCHIGIRI?! in the official Japanese title.
