YOASOBI revealed a music video for the “Undead” song, the ending theme for Monogatari: Off Season & Monster Season. The music video features characters and art from the anime series. Toshitaka Shinoda (from Ijigen Tokyo) directed the music video with Shu Horiuchi (.MP) as the art director.
YOASOBI’s Ayase was in charge of the music, lyrics, and arrangement for “Undead.” Besides vocalist Ikura, the credits for the video also list background chorus singers as Haley Lewis, Missy Suzki, Leona Ortiz, Dylan Ortiz, and Jonas Whitaker. Konnie Aoki is credited for their lyrics.
The song was released on July 1, 2024. The newest season of Monogatari premiered a week later, on July 7. Initially, the song was announced as one of the theme songs, but it was later revealed that it would be an ending theme song. The opening theme, “Caramel Ribbon Cursetard” is performed by Kana Hanazawa and Saori Hayami, who voice Nadeko Sengoku and Yotsugi Ononoki.
YOASOBI is known among anime fans for theme songs for shows such as Oshi no Ko, BEASTARS, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. The duo consists of producer Ayumu and singer-songwriter Ikura.
