The anime is based on a manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. Kodansha is publishing the manga in English, while Crunchyroll streams the anime by studio 8bit. The story follows BLUE LOCK, the project to create the ultimate egoistical striker that will take Japan to a World Cup trophy.

We had the chance to interview Kazuki Ura (Isagi’s Japanese voice actor), Ryoya Arisawa (anime producer), and Megumu Tsuchiya (manga editor) at this year’s Anime Expo. We talked with them about working on the manga and anime series, the challenges they faced in creating the work loved by fans worldwide, as well as what to expect from the ongoing Season 2.
