In a new update, Hunter x Hunter author Yoshihiro Togashi revealed that he was bedridden for a few days ‘for reasons.’ The post started with him saying that he has completed the storyboard for one more chapter. He also said that he has now recovered enough to get his work phone on his own and move around the house, adding that he is not good at asking for help.
In a previous X post from November 28, Togashi said that he’d underwent surgery. The procedure was performed under local anesthesia, so he considered it a valuable learning experience due to receiving explanations and a commentary.
Togashi shares occasional updates on his X account. He previously shared in a September update that he’d managed to successfully complete a color manuscript he’d been working on, but that his back pain has worsened. He has been drawing the Hunter x Hunter manga since March 1998. It is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, while it returned after a 4-year hiatus in October 2022.
Since then, there have been irregular releases, and the manga was confirmed to be moving away from a weekly schedule in December 2022. The manga released Volume 38 on September 4 in Japan, while Chapter 401 was released in the WSJ magazine on October 7. The manga is now on break again.
Crunchyroll is streaming the anime, describing the story:
Gon, a young boy who lives on Whale Island, dreams of becoming a Hunter like his father, who left when Gon was still young.
