Crunchyroll confirmed today that global music superstar J Balvin will voice the dungeon boss Kargalgan in Solo Leveling Season 2 -Arise from the Shadow-. The GRAMMY®-nominated artist will lend his voice to both the English and Spanish versions of the show. Balvin was previously announced as joining the cast in an unspecified “major role” with no additional details; this role has now been revealed.
In addition, we had the opportunity to interview the Colombian superstar, where he talked about his role in Solo Leveling, his love for anime growing up, and a lot more.

Solo Leveling is an incredibly popular project that hardly needs introduction. The series was voted our most anticipated anime of Winter 2024 and has since consistently taken spots on the leaderboard of weekly anime rankings. The series follows Sung Jinwoo in a world full of humans empowered with magic called Hunters. Sung Jinwoo is the ‘world’s weakest hunter’ and the weakest of the lowest E-rank of hunters. After a devastating incident in a dungeon, he gains the unique ability to level up and grow stronger, something no other Hunter is able to do.
The anime, based on the Solo Leveling webtoon by Chugong and DUBU from REDICE Studio, is now in the midst of its second season. The English dub featuring J Balvin as the voice of Kargalgan premieres this Saturday, February 22 at 4 pm ET. The Spanish dub premieres next Saturday, March 1 at the same time.
Karlargan is voiced by Kenta Miyake in the Japanese dub of Solo Leveling.
