Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 anime officially revealed a January 2026 release date with a new teaser visual. The announcement was made at a special talk show which featured the main cast of Atsumi Tanezaki (Frieren), Nobuhiko Okamoto (Himmel) and Kana Ichinose (Fern). Studio MADHOUSE was previously confirmed to be returning.
Prior to revealing the new information, the cast talked about the show and highlighted some of the anime merchandise, as well as some of the best scenes from Season 1. It was also announced that the series exceeded 24 million circulating copies, with Volume 14 of the manga set to release on March 18.

The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll, and it also began streaming on Netflix on March 1. You can take a look at today’s special talk show below.
Following the event’s conclusion, the attending main voice cast also took a photo with the new visual. Kana Ichinose (Fern) is holding a plushie toy of Stark as they show off the teaser visual.
The first season of the anime was also animated by MADHOUSE and ran for 28 episodes from September 29, 2024. It was directed by Keiichiro Saito, with series composition by Tomohiro Suzuki. Reiko Nagasawa was the character designer, with the chief animation direction led by Yuri Fujinaka, Reiko Nagasawa, and Maru Takase. Evan Call composed the music. The main voice cast for the anime included:
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Frieren
- Kana Ichinose as Fern
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark
- Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel
- Yoji Ueda as Eisen
- Atsuko Tanaka as Flamme
- Hiroki Tochi as Heiter
- Ayana Taketatsu as Aura
The anime was voted as the Best Anime of Fall 2023, also taking the Best Boy (Stark), Best Girl (Fern), Best Adaptation, Best Drama, and Best Opening (“Yuusha” by YOASOBI) awards. In our 2023 Anime of the Year Awards, Frieren won Best New Anime, Best Adaptation, Best Fantasy, Best Adventure, and it was 2nd in Best Drama and 3rd in Best Animation.
Then in the Winter 2024 anime rankings, the 2nd cour of the anime also performed well. It took 5 awards and was runner-up in many categories behind Bokuyaba, which had sweeped the weekly rankings that season. In our 2024 Anime of the Year Awards, Frieren was the runner-up Best Anime, while it won Best Adaptation, Best Adventure, Best Fantasy, Best Voice Cast and Best World Building.
Kanehito Yamada writes the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End manga, with Tsukasa Abe as the artist. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday manga magazine since April 2020. The manga is available to read via Sunday Webry, Viz Media, and the Shogakukan Comic website, while Crunchyroll streams the anime.
