On March 31, 2021, Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) announced that Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen manga exceeds 40 million copies in circulation. Furthermore, it includes both digital and print materials, together with not yet sold copies. Hence, on the past half year since the debut of its anime adaptation, the manga’s circulation rose up to 470%.
The list below are the progress of the manga’s circulation through the past few months:

Moreover, the manga is now on its 15th volume. Thus, due to its popularity, we can safely expect that the circulation of the manga will continue to rise as new volumes are released.
In addition, the 15th volume of the manga alone had 1.5 million copies in its initial run.
Fun fact: This is also the first time that any of the manga’s volumes had exceeded 1 million copies on its initial release.
Jujutsu Kaisen is first serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2018. Viz Media also published the first 3 chapters of the manga in English. Then, on December in the same year, the company started publishing the manga chapters digitally together with Shueisha, who is also publishing the manga on its Manga Plus Website.
The manga inspired an anime adaptation that premiered on Fall 2020 until winter 2021 with 24 episodes (two cours). There is also a movie titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0 The Movie that will be released this winter. Lastly, the film was based on Gege Akutami’s “Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School,” the volume 0 of Jujutsu Kaisen manga series.
The synopsis of the story:
In a world where demons feed on unsuspecting humans, fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryoma Sukuna were lost and scattered about. Should any demon consume Sukuna’s body parts, the power they gain could destroy the world as we know it. Fortunately, there exists a mysterious school of Jujutsu Sorcerers who exist to protect the precarious existence of the living from the supernatural!
Yuji Itadori is high schooler who spends his days visiting his bedridden grandfather. Although he looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Club.
One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object, but little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
