Witch Hat Atelier has announced two new cast additions ahead of the anime’s upcoming Second Pentagram Test Arc. Veteran voice actor Ryusei Nakao will voice the Brimmed Cap member Sasaran, while Hiiro Ishibashi has been cast as Euini.

The two characters will have big roles in the upcoming role, with Sasaran appearing in Episode 10, “A Promise in Silver,” released today, and Euini set to join the story in Episode 11 on June 8.

Nakao shared his excitement about joining the series and his character:

“I was looking forward to Witch Hat Atelier because I really liked its world. And I’ve become very fond of playing Sasaran, a character shrouded in mystery. I’m excited to see how the story develops.”

Ishibashi also spoke about his experience joining the production:

“The more I read the original manga, the more I found myself completely drawn into its world. It’s a great honor to be part of a work that is loved around the world.

I joined the recording sessions midway through production, but I was inspired by the passion of Motomura-san, the rest of the cast, and the production staff. I gave everything I had to bring Euini to life.

There are still many things I can’t talk about yet, but… the kindness he keeps hidden is genuine!

I hope you’ll look forward to the Second Exam.”

The anime’s director Ayumu Watanabe recently opened up about the immense challenges behind the adaptation, describing it as “a reckless undertaking.” Studio BUG FILMS is in charge of the production.

Witch Hat Atelier (Tongari Boshi no Atelier) is a manga series created by Kamome Shirahama, who both writes and illustrates the work. The series has been published in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine since July 2016, and as of April 2026, it has released 16 volumes. A spin-off titled Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen launched in the same magazine in November 2019.

The franchise has reached over 7 million copies in circulation. It received notable recognition in 2020, earning the Harvey Award for Best Manga and the Eisner Award for Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia. Kodansha USA publishes it in English, describing the story:

In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: She wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch…until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem…
